OEB Enterprise has a solid reputation for fostering the partnerships and support that are the foundation of successful community developments. We know how to build, nurture and navigate the complex inter-relationships needed to make a community project work.

From identifying potential sources of funding to inspiring public support, we have helped numerous municipalities and developers, as well as hospital boards, LIHNs, school boards, colleges and universities, bring their capital ideas to fruition.

We have the experience and expertise to:

  • Bridge the divergent interests between large, private developers and small rural communities;
  • Develop partnerships among public, private and community organizations;
  • Manage and coordinate the myriad components of the project involving private and public partners, to ensure all of the pieces fit together strategically and cohesively, and that everyone is working collaboratively;
  • Build mutually supportive relationships with government officials;
  • Identify potential sources of funding and support that are needed at various stages to move the project forward;
  • Foster public and stakeholder support; and
  • Implement communications and public relations activities to ensure effective messaging and positioning throughout the project, and to maintaining public support.

Our Experience with Community Projects

OEB Enterprise played a central role in bringing the highly praised Muskoka Wharf project to fruition.

Developing Gravenhurst’s historic and under-utilized waterfront, the $170 million Muskoka Wharf project is considered a model of cooperative, innovative partnership – spearheaded by OEB Enterprise.

We provided project management services throughout the concept development and planning stages on behalf of the private developer and the municipality. We were also instrumental in securing significant financial support from senior levels of government that enabled the project to come move ahead. The Muskoka Wharf project now serves as a model for future redevelopment projects underway in other small towns across Ontario.

Similarly, OEB Enterprise’s expertise was pivotal for the now-completed Muskoka Community Campus in Bracebridge. In addition to the project management activities in the planning phases, we led the partnership development process that brought together the private sector proponent, the municipality, the Board of Education and two post-secondary institutions. While the eventual sites of the project changed, the final outcome was the completion of a combined secondary school/community theatre/ recreational complex on the edge of a new housing development, and college and university facilities on a smaller campus in Bracebridge.

In the Town of Bancroft, our work began at the earliest concept stage for a major re-development of the downtown core, and a broad-based community-driven initiative to strengthen future prospects for the Greater Bancroft Area.

We are providing project management services for the municipality and the private sector developer we brought to the table, and coordinating all of the community initiatives to strengthen the region. We are also leading the establishment of effective relations with multiple provincial and federal Ministries, and identifying and pursuing funding support from the senior levels of government.

In addition to municipal revitalization projects, OEB Enterprise has also been a linchpin for a variety of capital projects for post-secondary institutions, hospitals and not-for-profit organizations, and has played a central role in building community support for major developments such as the $1 billion Fallsview Casino Resort in Niagara Falls.
